Late Flurry Gives @INTechWBB Season High Fourth Straight Win

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team used a 17-2 run in the final four minutes to win their fourth straight game, the longest streak of the season, 61-52 over Lourdes at Tam-o-Shanter on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors (11-12, 10-5 WHAC) brought a three-game win streak into the contest and were outplayed early on as the Gray Wolves (6-16, 2-12 WHAC) scored 25-of-34 points to open the contest giving the home team a 16-point lead halfway through the first half. A Linsey Masnari layup jumpstarted the Tech offense and, with the help of some solid defense, the Warriors scored 14 unanswered points to cut the deficit to two, 25-23. A Baylee Rinehart free throw and a layup from Taylor Seiss cut the margin to one, but Lourdes scored four of the final six points to take a 31-28 lead into halftime.

The second half started much like the first with the home team scoring the first seven points and 10-of-12 to push the lead back to 11, 41-30. Shallante Clements scored three points the hard way and five straight points from Rinehart cut the deficit back to three. Lourdes hit a pair of free throws but a Masnari layup and a couple free throws from Skyler Ortiz made it a one-point game, 43-42 with 8:17 to play. After trading baskets, the Gray Wolves used a 5-0 run to lead by six with four minutes left, but the Warriors found another level at both ends of the floor. Taylor Carver hit a three-pointer and Clements converted another and-1 to tie the score and Carver hit a layup to give Tech their first lead and one they didn't let go. The Warriors hit their free throws down the stretch, outscoring Lourdes 17-2 to close out the 61-52 victory.

Tech made just enough shots to win the game, finishing the contest 20-for-62 (32.3%) from the field, 3-for-14 (21.4%) from behind the arc and 18-for-24 (75%) from the charity stripe. The Warriors also outrebounded Lourdes 45-39 while outscoring them 32-26 in the paint.

Clements and Masnari each fell a rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing nine rebounds each. Seiss and Carver each tallied 10 points and Ortiz finished with eight points and a team-high four assists.

The Warriors look to continue their winning streak on Wednesday, Jan. 28 when they travel to Adrian, Mich. to face No. 17 Siena Heights at the SHU Fieldhouse. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with live video available at www.indianatechwarriors.com/live and live stats available here.
