GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team was looking for their third straight win, but fell short against No. 10 Cornerstone, 82-61 at Mol Arena on Wednesday night.
The Warriors (7-11, 4-6 WHAC) got off to a fast start, scoring eight of the first nine points to take an 8-1 lead. The home team answered back with a 13-0 run to take a six-point lead, pushing it to nine with 11 minutes to play. A pair of free throws and a jumper from
Chester McFadden cut the lead to five and sparked a 17-10 run to cut the deficit to two, 29-27. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch with Cornerstone hitting a three-pointer just before the break for the five-point, 38-33 lead.
The home team pushed the run to five with the first two points of the second half, but Tech was able to cut the lead to four, 42-38 on a
Tanner Watkins three-pointer. Baskets by

Josh Fleming kept the deficit to four, but a 7-0 run by the home team gave the Golden Eagles an 11-point, 55-44 lead with 10 minutes to play. A McFadden free throw and Watkins trey made it a seven-point margin, but a 21-6 run by Cornerstone increased the deficit to 22, 76-54, with Tech eventually cutting the lead to 21, 82-61.
The Warriors shot 37.5 percent (21-for-56) from the floor, 24 percent (6-for-25) from behind the arc and 65 percent (13-for-20) from the charity stripe. The Golden Eagles finished 28-for-56 (50%) from the field and were 16-for-21 (76.2%) from the free throw line.
Watkins netted a team-high 17 points and added five rebounds with
Franklin Lindsey adding 10 points and 11 rebounds, his fifth double-double of the season and fourth in the past five games.
Tech will look to bounce back on Saturday, Jan. 10 in Lima, Ohio as they face UNOH at 3 p.m.
