GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team defeated Cornerstone University in a thrilling 3-2 decision on Wednesday afternoon at CU Soccer Stadium.
Knotted at two-all in the waning minutes of regulation, the Warriors were able to take the lead in the 89th minute when
Michelle Landry scored her first goal of the season off of a deflection from the Golden Eagles goalie and sent it home from the left side of the box.
The win gives Tech seven points in the WHAC standings and puts them in a tie for fifth place with Aquinas with only four games left in the conference and regular season schedule.
The Orange and Black struck first in the match when
Sydney Lemelin notched her second goal of the season in the 19th minute off a deflection that landed right in front of her that she was able to score through the right side.
After Cornerstone had managed to tie it up in the 42 minute, the Warriors responded quickly when
Nicole Price scored her first goal of the season just two minutes later when send a free kick from
Megan Perrey into the back of the net from the left side.
The hosts would tie it back up in the 58th minute before Landry's heroics would give the visitors the win and three points.
Tailer Roscoe would make seven saves in her third start of the year to improve to 3-0-0 for the season.
Tech (6-7-1, 2-3-1) has a week off before returning to action on Wednesday, Oct. 21, when they welcome No. 2 University of Northwestern Ohio to Warrior Athletic Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and live stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
