ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Indiana Tech volleyball team won both its matches on Saturday at the Concordia Crossover, defeating Davenport in four games for the season sweep, 25-14, 23-25, 25-19, 25-20, and outlasting Aquinas in five sets, 25-19, 22-25, 20-25, 25-22, 22-12.
In the second match against Aquinas, Tech came back from a 2-1 set deficit to avenge a 3-0 loss earlier in the year, while
Taylor Kelso matched the program record in digs with 37 in the five-setter, tying the mark from Kayla Hartman in 2009 against Cornerstone.
Paige Doellman,
Cassie Sarabia and
Jazmin Alexander all had double-digit kills for the Warriors with 15, 14 and 12 respectively, while Alexander hit .360 to lead the team.
Katelyn St. Martin had 25 digs and nine kills, while
Gabby Staggs added nine kills and five blocks.
Mara Zell dished out a season-high 32 assists and
Karli Jones added 24.
After going back and forth in the first four sets, it was only appropriate that the fifth had 10 lead changes and eight ties. Tech got out to a 7-5 lead before the Saints came back to take a 10-8 advantage. After battling back to get it to 12 all, the Orange and Black rattled off three straight points to gain the victory.
The Warriors came out firing in the first set against Davenport, hitting .424 while recording 18 kills while only committing four errors.
Cassie Sarabia had nine of game-high 24 kills in the opening set, including four in a row during a six point run.
After dropping the second set, Tech started the third on a 7-2 run, forcing the Panthers to call a timeout and never losing the lead again.
Katelyn St. Martin had a double-double with 22 digs and 14 kills and served up three aces.
Taylor Kelso recorded 24 digs and
Karli Jones dished out a game-high 34 assists.
Mara Zell added 21 assists and
Paige Doellman had 12 kills.
