ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 men's ice hockey team fell to Oakland, 8-5, on Saturday evening in Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) play at John Lindell Royal Ice Arena.
The first period saw a flurry of scoring as both teams combined for six goals. The Warriors got on the board first when
Jace Childs scored his sixth goal early in the opening frame, but the Golden Grizzles responded to tie it up just minutes later.
The two teams would trade the next four goals to head into the first intermission knotted at three.
Oakland would then score the next three goals to take a 6-3 lead into the middle of the third period before Tech would respond with Childs's second goal, but it would not be enough as the hosts tacked on two more scores.
The Orange and Black racked up 10 penalties for 20 total minutes, while
Zach Larson stopped 28 shots as he was handed his first loss of the season.
Tech (4-3, 3-2 GLCHL) continues its road trip next weekend with a trip to Western New York to take on Northeast Collegiate Hockey League (NECHL) powers Canisius and Buffalo. The Warriors will take on the Canisius on Friday, Oct. 23 from Buffalo State Ice Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
