FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team opened its 2015-16 season on Friday night at the Schaefer Center as they defeated Wilberforce University, 91-79, in front of a packed house.
The Warriors got off to a hot start in the opening five minutes by going on a 12-0 run and eventually pushing their lead to as many as 13 as Tech lead the Bulldogs, 17-4, with 13 and a half minutes to go in the opening half. Senior transfer
Dominique Walls made an immediate impact in his first game with the Orange and Black, throwing down two dunks in the first half that brought the crowd to its feet.
Tech would continue to extend its lead in the second half, leading by as many as 21 points. The Warriors would shoot 50% in the final 20 minutes as they controlled the tempo and never let the visitors into the game.
Walls led all Tech players with 24 points and went 10-12 from the field in his debut, while also picking up 10 rebounds and two blocks.

Lavonte Davis and
Jantzen Goodwin also scored in double-figures with 17, 14 and 11, respectively. Davis would add six rebounds and two blocks, while had five rebounds and two assists to go along with his 17 points. Goodwin led all players with six assists in his Warriors debut as well.
As a team, the Warriors would shoot over 47% from the field and forced 15 Bulldogs turnovers. The Orange and Black would turn those 15 turnovers into 26 points. Wilberforce's Arthur Haggard, III led all scorers with 26 points and went 8-10 from behind the arc.
Tech (1-0) returns to the court on Wednesday when they head to Chicago and take on Roosevelt University. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. and links to live stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
