Last Time Out: The Warriors fell in a heartbreaker to Lawrence Tech on Saturday, 2-1. The Blue Devils captured the victory with a goal by Pablo Ripodas in the 90
th minute.
Brennan Cochran notched his team-leading ninth goal of the season earlier in the 56
th minute to knot the game at one.
Head Coach David Bokhart: Now in his fifth season as the head coach of the Warriors,
David Bokhart sports a record of 39-34-9. During his tenure, Bokhart has coached 16 WHAC Academic All-Conference honorees, 9 All-Conference selections, 6 NAIA Scholar-Athlete recipients and one NAIA All-American and Conference Defensive Player of the Year (Mark Baptist).
Scouting the Opposition: Michigan-Dearborn – The Wolverines are currently on a four-game losing streak heading into Wednesday's matinee, most recently falling to Lourdes on Saturday, 3-1. Richard Hodnicki and Alex Vasilevski have five goals apiece to lead the team, while Mario Konja and Vasilevski has dished out three assists each. Erick Beas and Aaron Johnson have split time in goal this year, each recording over 350 minutes of game action. Johnson sports a 1.74 goals against average (GAA), while Beas has posted two shutouts.
Davenport – The Panthers travel to Lourdes on Wednesday before making the trek south to the Summit City. TJ Ifaturoti leads the WHAC in goals with 10 while Jake Love has dished out a league-high six assists. Kyler Jacobs has started all three conference games for Davenport, while Aaron Orban started all seven nonconference games. Jacobs has only allowed three goals, all to Michigan-Dearborn, and recorded two shutouts with a .750 save percentage.
Series Notes: Michigan-Dearborn – The Warriors are 1-2 since 2012 against the Wolverines and have lost the last two meetings.
Zachary St. Aubin notched the lone Tech goal in a 2-1 loss last year in Fort Wayne.
Davenport – The Panthers hold a 13-3-1 edge in the series and have won the last three matchups against the Warriors, with the last Tech win coming in 2012. The Orange and Black fell, 6-0, in their regular season matchup and in the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinals a season ago.
Getting it done in the Classroom: Indiana Tech was recognized with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award on Sept. 23 after obtaining a 3.01 composite grade point average for the 2014-15 academic year. The Team Academic Award is awarded annually to soccer programs whose student-athletes have excelled in the classroom. It is the seventh time that the men's team has received the honor and the first under Bokhart. Tech was one of only two men's teams in the WHAC to be recognized.
Flying Many Flags: This year's Warriors squad is represented by nine different countries and four continents. Tech features players from Germany, Ireland, England, Portugal, Brazil, South Africa, Austria and Canada in addition to the United States.
Making His Presence Felt: Freshman
Brennan Cochran has made an immediate impact on the pitch for the Orange and Black, starting all nine games and leading the team in goals (nine) and points (18). The Auburn, Indiana native ranks among the top-three among the WHAC offensive leaders in: points (third), points per game (third), goals (tied for second), goals per game (tied for first), shots per game (second) and shots on goals per game (first). Nationally he ranks 14
th in shots on goal per game (2.67), tied for 15
th in goals per game (1.0), 15
th in shots per game (4.67) tied for 21
st in total goals (nine) and tied for 34
th in points per game (2.0).
Savings Machine: Logan Kelly finds himself among the nation's best when it comes to defending the net. His average of 5.50 saves per game ranks him tied for 39
th in the country while his 44 total saves place him in a tie for 46
th.
