FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team rebounded from a tough loss on Monday as they defeated Grace College, 80-57, on Wednesday night at the Schaefer Center.
Tech jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first quarter thanks to a couple of three-pointers from
Kendall Knapke and an old-fashioned three-point play from
Baylee Rinehart. A
Taylor Carver jumper at 6:04 in the first gave the Warriors an 11 point lead and forced the Lancers to take an early timeout.
The Orange and Black would continue their hot shooting throughout the first half, shooting at a 48.4% and taking a 38-27 lead after two periods, while limiting the visitors to only 36.7% from the field and 25% from behind the arc.
Tech would continue to dominate the second half and used a 14-0 in the fourth quarter to push their lead to 30 with three minutes to go in the game and never letting the Lancers get within double digits.
Knaple and Carver led all scorers with 16 points each and both pulled down six rebounds and blocked a shot. Knapke would shoot 4-5 from behind the arc. Rinehart added 13 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Haley Cook dished out a game-high seven assists.
Tech (2-2) opens Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on Saturday when they head up to Grand Rapids, Michigan to take on second-ranked Davenport. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. and live stats and video will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
