Warriors Fall to No. 2 Panthers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team fell to second ranked Davenport, 94-83, on Saturday afternoon in its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opener.
 
Tech was led by Taylor Seiss, who scored a season-high 26 points on 10-13 shooting, including 4-5 from the three point line. Taylor Carver added 14 points while Baylee Rinehart chipped in 13 points and two steals. Sarah White scored 12 points while pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.
 
The Panthers never trailed in the game and lead by as much as 20 in the second half, scoring 60 of their 94 points in the paint while dominating the Warriors on the board with a 46-33 rebound advantage and getting 24 second chance points.
 
Down 37-27 midway through the second period, the Orange and Black went on a 7-0 run bring the deficit within three with 3:42 to go until the half, but the hosts would counter with a 8-4 run to enter the locker room with a 45-38 lead.
 
The hosts would flex their muscles coming out of the break however, outscoring Tech 24-12 in the third quarter to break the game open and head into the final 10 minutes of play with a 68-50 advantage.
 
The Warriors would then open the final period on a 13-5 spurt to close the gap to 10, but would not be able to crack it to single digits until it was too late as Davenport gave the Orange and Black their first loss in conference play.
 
Tech (2-3, 0-1 WHAC) starts a four-game conference homestand on Wednesday when they welcome in Marygrove to the Schafer Center as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Tipoff for the women is slated for 6 p.m. and links to live stats and video will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
