GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team dropped its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic-Conference (WHAC) opener on Saturday afternoon to third ranked Davenport, 83-63.
Miles Robinson led all Tech scorers with 25 points, including four of eight from the three point line and pulled down six rebounds.
Tanner Watkins also got to double digit points with 12.
Dominique Walls added eight point and a team-high nine rebounds.
Tech gave the Panthers all they could handle in the first half, especially in the last six minutes when they erased a 13 point deficit with an 18-3 run to head into the locker room with a 34-32 lead, capped off with a three at the buzzer by Robinson.
The number three team in the country would come out of the locker room firing however, running out to a 7-0 run in the first minute and 21 seconds and forcing head coach
John Peckinpaugh to call an early timeout.
The damage was done however, as Tech would not get within four points for the rest of the game and falling behind by as many 23. The Warriors would go cold shooting, converting only seven of their 28 shots and making only 3-16 from behind the arc.
15 Tech turnovers were turned into 24 Davenport points while the Panthers only turned the ball over five times.
Tech (2-2, 0-1 WHAC) begins a five game homestand on Wednesday when Marygrove comes to the Schaefer Center as part of a doubleheader with the women's team. Tipoff for the men's game is scheduled for 8 p.m. and links to live video and stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
