FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team hosts its first meet of the season on Saturday as they welcome in Calumet College of St. Joseph, No. 18 Embry-Riddle, No. 17 Lindsey Wilson, (RV) Missouri Baptist, St. Catharine and No. 19 University of the Cumberlands for the Warrior Duals.
Tech will take on Embry-Riddle (round one), University of the Cumberlands (two), St. Catharine (three) and Lindsey Wilson (five). Meet time is set for 9 a.m. from the Warrior Athletic Center and links to live video (Tech matches only) and scoring will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
The Orange and Black stayed at number two in the NAIA Coaches' Top 20 Poll this week, their highest ranking in program history. Tech received 107.5 total team points, a 16.5 point jump from the last installment, and first-year head coach
Thomas Pompei has 10 wrestlers ranked in the top 16 nationally while the Warriors are 3-2 in dual meets this season.
Seniors
Travis Barroquillo (141 pounds) and
LJ Grayson (184) are both ranked second in their respective weight classes with Barroquillo a perfect 10-0 on the year while Grayson is 8-1.
Junior and 2014-15 All-American
Mitch Pawlak is also 8-1 on the year and is ranked third nationally in the 133 pound division. Freshman
Sawyer Miller stayed pat at number four for the second week in a row in the 125 pound weight class while holding an 8-2 mark.
Junior
John Weldon (165) holds the most wins by a Warrior this season with a 12-2 record and moved up one spot to fifth in the national rankings.
Jacob Johnson (174) is 10-5 on the year and also moved up a spot to sixth. Sophomore
Robert Humphrey (141) jumped from ninth to seventh in this week's ratings and is 8-4 this season, while and
Chase Hack (157) moved up to eighth with 39 points and holds an 11-3 record.
Sophomores
Thomas Garty (149 pounds) and
Matthew Miller are ranked 12
th and 13
th, respectively, with records of 6-3 and 8-2.
