GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team improved their winning streak to seven games with a 72-62 victory over Aquinas on Saturday afternoon.
Taylor Seiss had a game-high 19 points while grabbing four rebounds and picking up a pair of assists.
Haley Cook added 18 points with six rebounds and
Baylee Rinehart also scored in double figures with 16 and had two steals.
Rayana Villalpando and
Sarah White each had a team-high eight boards while Villalpando had three assists and a trio of steals.
A 4-0 run by
Taylor Carver gave the Warriors the early lead, but the Saints would counter with a 9-0 spurt of the own. Tech would outscore the hosts 10-9 over the rest of the period, but trailed 19-14 after 10 minutes of play.
Rinehart would begin to heat up in the second quarter as she scored eight straight points for the visitors to put Tech ahead 29-28 with just under four minutes to go in the half. A Seiss jumper would put the Warriors up 33-32 at the break.
The Saints proceeded to go on a 9-5 run to begin the second half, but the Orange and Black used a 13-3 spurt to hold a 51-44 advantage at the 3:08 mark in the third period.
Cook would then take over the final 10 minutes of play as she scored 14 of the Warriors 20 points, including two different 6-0 spurts, to insure Tech's seventh straight win.
Tech (9-3, 6-1 WHAC) has a week of competition for finals and will be back on the hardwood on Dec. 19 when they make the short drive to Huntington for a nonconference showdown with the No. 20 Foresters.
