HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team saw its seven game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon as they fell to No. 20 Huntington, 72-59, at Platt Arena.
Haley Cook recorded her first career double-double as she recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Taylor Seiss also scored 13 points.
Rayana Villalpando added 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and
Taylor Carver chipped in 10 points and seven boards.
Kendall Knapke had six points and a team-high three blocks.
The Foresters got out to a 9-3 lead in the first five minutes of the game, but the Warriors would respond with a 10-2 run to take a 13-11 lead. The hosts would close the quarter with a 5-2 run and take a 16-15 lead into the break.
The hosts would push their lead to as much as 10 in the third period, but an 8-0 run to start the final quarter would bring Tech to within two (53-51) with 7:40 to go in the game. Huntington would respond with four quick points and the visitors were unable to close the gap to less than six and the Foresters would go on to the 72-59 victory.
Tech (9-4, 6-1 WHAC) does not play again until Dec. 29, when they welcome in crosstown rival Saint Francis to the Schafer Center. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. and will follow the men's team, who hosts Ohio Christian at 3:30 p.m. Links to live video and stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
