Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Warriors Host Holiday Block Party in Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The (RV) Indiana Tech men's basketball team used a season high 13 blocks, strong defense and clutch free throw shooting to improve its winning streak to five games overall and seven straight in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play with a nail-biting 71-68 victory over Concordia on Monday evening at the Schaefer Center.

Miles Robinson tied his career high in scoring with 26 points, with 15 of those coming behind the three point line, and grabbed six rebounds in the win. Lavonte Davis added a career high 24 points on 11-of-14 shooting while grabbing five boards and blocking four shots. Dominique Walls recorded his fifth double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 rebounds while blocking a season high seven shots.

The two teams would trade the lead five times in the opening five minutes of the game and neither side was able to get out to more than a five point lead through the first 14 minutes. The Warriors would close the half on a 10-3 spurt however, with Walls throwing down a thunderous dunk to cap the run, to give them a 42-32 lead at the break.

Tech would continue to lead by double digits for most of the second half, but the Cardinals would cut the deficit to single digits with just under four minutes to go in the game. Robinson and Tyrece Edwards would both hit a pair of free throws to keep the hosts ahead by six with 1:11 left, but a pair of free throws from Jared McDaniel, a Warriors shot clock violation and a three pointer from Luke Diekevers would bring Concordia within a point at 69-68.

Jaelan Manson would stay cool under pressure however, hitting both free throws on the next Warriors possession to push the lead back to three. A three point attempt from Alec Turner would miss the mark as the buzzer sounded to give the Orange and Black the hard-fought win.

Tech (9-4, 7-1 WHAC) returns to action on Dec. 29 when they welcome Ohio Christian to the Summit City for a 3:30 p.m. tip from the Schaefer Center. The game will precede a women's doubleheader Holiday Tournament. The Orange and Black will crosstown rival Saint Francis at 5:30 p.m. with conference foe Northwestern Ohio taking on Bethel College in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. Links to live stats and video for all three games will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
