Warriors Squander Chances, leads against Panthers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech ACHA Division 1 men's ice hockey team gave No. 9 Davenport all it could handle, but couldn't hang on to three different leads as they fell, 5-3, on Saturday evening at the Patterson Ice Center.

The Warriors would have 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 leads in the game, with the last coming with 12:10 left in the game against the ninth ranked team in the country, but couldn't stop the Panthers attack as they scored three unanswered goals in the final nine minutes of the game to come away with the weekend sweep.

"Our guys battled hard, but penalties in key situations hurt us," head coach Frank DiCristofaro said. "We have to learn from this and to be ready to finish the semester strong next weekend."

Jarrett Pfeiffer led Tech with two goals and an assist, while Jace Childs also scored and picked up an assist. Dylan Grant would also notch an assist.

Chet Tooker made 38 saves in net for the Orange and Black while the visitors picked up eight penalties.

Tech (12-9-0-1-0) stays on the road to close out the first half of the season next weekend when they head to Chicago to battle No. 12 Robert Morris. Friday's game is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Edge Ice Arena.
