Warriors Hold off Saints in Overtime for Sixth Straight Victory

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team rallied late to force overtime before coming away with an 86-82 victory over WHAC foe Siena Heights on Wednesday evening.

Haley Cook and Taylor Seiss had 22 and 20 points, respectively, to lead the Warriors to their sixth straight win. Cook was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line while pulling down four rebounds and dishing out three assists. Seiss shot 57.1% from the floor and the three point line. Kendall Knapke and Taylor Carver also recorded double digit scoring efforts with 14 and 10 points, respectively, with the duo combining for 13 rebounds. Rayana Villalpando chipped in eight points while pulling down a season-high 10 boards.

Down 61-53 with just nine minutes to go in the fourth, Tech went on a 9-0 run to take a 62-61 lead with six minutes to go. The two teams would trade leads over the next five possessions, with the Saints holding a70-67 lead with a minute to go in regulation. Cook would get fouled attempting a three point shot with six seconds left though and calmly stepped up to the charity stripe and sunk all three to tie it up at 70 and send the game into overtime.

A triple from Cook would give the Orange and Black the lead for good in the overtime period as the Warriors used a 10-5 run to give themselves enough of a cushion over the Saints. The Warriors would hit six of their eight free throws over the last minute and a half to ice the game.

Tech (8-3, 5-1 WHAC) heads to Grand Rapids on Saturday for an afternoon matinee with Aquinas. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. and links to live stats and audio will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
