DEARBORN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team struggled at both ends of the court on Wednesday night, falling to Michigan-Dearborn 71-53 at UMD Fieldhouse.
The Warriors (1019, 7-14 WHAC) got off to a good start as
Tanner Watkins opened the contest with a three-pointer and after a pair of UMD free throws,
Franklin Lindsey did the same to give Tech the early lead. The Wolverines (11-18, 7-14 WHAC) scored the next seven points to go up three, but the Warriors responded with a 10-2 run to go back up by five. UMD scored the next six points to go up one and, after a
Milos Milidragovic bucket made it 18-17 Tech, the home team closed the half on a 15-3 run, taking a 33-20 halftime lead.
The offense picked up for Tech in the second half, but they couldn't pile together enough runs to make the comeback. The Warriors did score six straight halfway through the final 20 minutes, but the home team answered with four of their own. The teams traded baskets for the majority of the half with Tech closing the game on a 7-0 run for the final margin.
Tech finished the contest 18-for-55 (32.7%) from the floor and 5-for-20 (25%) from long range while going 12-for-16 (75%) at the free throw line. The Warriors also held a 13-8 margin in second chance points in the game.
Lindsey and Watkins each scored 10 points to lead the team while
Tyrece Edwards had a team high seven rebounds, with Lindsey adding six.
Tech closes out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 21 in Livonia, Mich. at the MU Activities Center against Madonna. Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m. with live video available at
