Theisen's Hat Trick Leads @INTechICE_D1 Past Rochester

BOX SCORE | ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Indiana Tech ACHA Division I Ice Hockey team won their final road contest of their inaugural 2014-15 season, defeating Rochester College 5-1 at Fraser Hockeyland on Friday night.

The Warriors got off to one of their best starts all season, scoring three goals in the opening period for the third time all year. Matthew Walton got the night started with a pass from Quentin Holmes while Ryan Theisen (Jace Childs/Jarrett Pfeiffer) score the second and Childs (Theisen/Pfeiffer), who scored five goals on Friday against IPFW, gave Tech the 3-0 lead.

The trio of Theisen, Childs and Pfeiffer weren't done as the three combined to score the lone goal in the second period, with Theisen getting the tally. The Fort Wayne native got recorded a hat trick with the Warriors lone tally in the third period with an assist from Childs. Rochester's lone goal came with two minute to play on a power play for the final margin.

Theisen (3 g, 1 a) and Childs (1g, 3a) tied with a game-high four points, while Pfeiffer tallied three points on three assists. Tech accumulated 23 penalty minutes to 35 for RC while Zach Larson got the win between the pipes, stopping 43 of the 44 shots he faced in 60 minutes of play.

Tech closes out the 2014-15 season on Saturday, Feb. 21 when they welcome Rochester College to the Allen Country War Memorial Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. with $15 tickets available for the Fort Wayne Komets games at 7:30 p.m. here.
