BOX SCORE | FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech ACHA I hockey team concluded its inaugural 2014-15 season at the Allen Country War Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, falling to Rochester College 6-3.
It was a see-saw battle from the outset as the visitors got on the board first, but Tech quickly answered with a power play goal off the stick of
Jarrett Pfeiffer courtesy of
Ian Maisonneuve, but the tie was broken minutes later as RC got on the board just before the first intermission.
In the second period the Warriors of Indiana Tech scored first when Pfeiffer found
Ryan Theisen to once again tie the score, this time at two. However, the Warriors of Rochester also scored to take a one goal lead. Rochester also scored the first two goals in the third period to push the deficit to three before Pfeiffer again dished out an assist, this time connecting with
Matt Walton to make it 5-3, but another tally for the visitors accounted for the final margin.
Tech finished with just one penalty for two minutes while Rochester collected six penalties for 12 minutes.
Zach Larson took the loss in net despite making 27 saves.
Pfeiffer led all players with three points on one goal and a pair of assists while three others, Maisonneuve, Walton and Theisen also collected a point.
"We didn't have the start we wanted but we had plenty of opportunities," said Tech Head Coach
Frank DiCristofaro. "We hit eight posts tonight and their goalie played well, you have to give him lot of credit. We also want to thank our fans and the administration for their support throughout the season. We improved a lot this year and I'm excited for what lies ahead."
The Orange and Black will begin preparing for next season when they will join the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League and chase an ACHA National Championship.
