Winter Nets Six, Defense Solid as #3 @INTechWLAX Down Eagles

BRIEF: The third-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team used an eight goal first half and six goals from Alexa Winter to dispense of the Eagles, 15-6 at Warrior Athletic Field on Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors bounced back from a tough conference loss with an impressive offensive and defensive performance.
 
FLOW:
- Sam Vikstrom and Kristina Scott each scored in the first three minutes to put Tech ahead early and give the Warriors six players with 10 or more goals this season
- Lauren Allard sandwiched a goal between two Alexa Winter tallies to put the Orange and Black ahead 5-0
- Aubri Hazen broke up a pair of goals from the Eagles leading scorer, Taylor O'Gara, to maintain a four goal lead
- Winter added two more first half goals to end the half with a six goal advantage
- Alexis DiGiovanni got in on the scoring, opening the second half with a tally before Winter added another
- RMU added a goal from O'Gara, her third, but the Warriors answered with four more goals, on each from Scott, Vikstrom, Winter and DiGiovanni
- The visitors scored three of the final four gals, with Tayler Campbell netting one for the Warriors, to make it 15-6
 
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Winter netted six goals and had an assist on 10 shots; now has 42 goals on the season
- DiGiovanni, Scott and Vikstrom each scored two goals with Scott leading the team with six draw controls
- Hazen and Campbell each had two points with one goal and one assist apiece
- Meaghan Eldridge made seven saves on 13 shots on goal in the contest
- Tech put 21 shots on goal while limiting RMU to just 13
- Warriors dominated draw controls, 16-6
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors host fifth-ranked Siena Heights on Wednesday, Apr. 8 at Warriors Athletic Field with the game set to begin at 7 p.m.
