RECORDS: Indiana Tech (11-18, 0-8 WHAC), Siena Heights (15-12, 3-5 WHAC)
LOCATION: New Haven, Ind. (Havenhurst Park)

BRIEF: The Indiana Tech softball team almost got their first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win on Saturday, taking Siena Heights to extra innings in game two, but ultimately fell, 3-1 and 10-6, the latter taking 12 innings. Tech belted out 19 hits on the day, but five defensive miscues cost the Warriors the wins.

FLOW:
GAME 1
Two walks and a trio of one out hits, one for extra bases, put the Saints ahead early, 3-0 in the first. It could've been worse but Tech starter, Jamie Kilps, stranded two runners to end the frame. Kilps pitched around trouble all game as SHU had a runner in every inning but the sixth and the freshman stranded 10 runners in the contest.

The Orange and Black played small ball in the fourth when Jenevie Rivas doubled to center to lead off the frame and advanced to third on Kilps' sacrifice bunt. Alli Watson followed with a single to center to plate Rivas and the Warriors lone run. A pair of strikeouts ended the threat.

Tech had several chances early, but left five runners on the bases in the contest.

GAME 2
The Saints scored first again in game two as a leadoff walk came around to score on a one out single for a 1-0 lead in the first inning. SHU left two more runners on in the second before the Warriors took the lead. Hannah Foltz led off the inning with a hit-by-pitch and after a walk to Kilps loaded the bases with one out, Watson doubled to score Rivas and Foltz for a 2-1 lead.

Siena Heights took the lead in the third; scoring five runs on three hits and two errors to take a 6-2 lead, but the Warriors posted a crooked number of their own, plating four runs in the fourth to tie the score. Rivas again led off the inning with a double and, after stealing third, scored on a Kilps single. With two on and two out, Bailey Dembinski doubled home Kilps and Tori Simper to cut the deficit to one. Sophia Johantgen followed with a single to plate Dembinski and tie the game.

The pitchers took over from there as neither offense got much production until the ninth when the Saints loaded the bases, but Tech induced a pair of fly outs to end the threat. The Warriors also had a chance in extra innings as SHU intentionally walked Rivas to load the bases with two outs, but Tech couldn't push a run across.

Then in the 12th, the Saints used five hits and an error to plate four runs and seal the win.
