No. 4 @INTechWLAX Punches Ticket to Nationals, Face DU in WHAC Championship

BRIEF: After sweeping the regular season series with fifth-ranked Lawrence Tech, the fourth-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team punched their ticket to the National Women's Lacrosse League National Championship Tournament on Friday with a narrow 13-12 win over the Blue Devils. The game was played at DU Turf Field as the Panthers won the regular season crown and earned the right to host the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.
 
FLOW:
Lauren Allard and Aubri Hazen got the scoring started with back-to-back goals, but a pair from LTU tied the score. After another Allard goal was answered by the Blue Devils, the Warriors took control, scoring six of the last nine goals before the half.
 
Tech had three unanswered during their run with Allard and Winer each scoring two in the 6-3 run to put the Orange and Black in front , 9-6.
 
The Blue Devils responded out of the half by scoring five unanswered goals to take their first lead of the game, 11-9. Winter and Allard followed with a goal each to tie the score at 11 and Allard netted the equalizer in the seventh minute.  
 
LRU went back in front with nine to play, but Allard again tied the score and Tayler Campbell beat the keeper for the game winner,
 
IN THE NUMBERS:
Allard, a senior, led all scorers with six goals on nine shots while also adding an assist
 
Winter finished with three goals on six shots and Campbell had a pair of tallies, a helper and was 1-for-1 on free-position attempts
 
The Warriors held an 18-9 advantage in draw controls while outshooting LTU 32-20 overall with a 24-14 margin in shots on goal
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors have punched their ticket to the NWLL National Tournament and will square off against second-ranked Davenport in the WHAC Championship game tomorrow, Apr. 18 at 5 p.m. The game will be played at DU Turf Field in Grand Rapids, Mich.
