BRIEF: The Indiana Tech women's tennis team returned to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference competition on Monday, traveling to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Aquinas, who is currently receiving votes in the Coaches' Poll, falling 5-4. The match was moved indoors due to inclement weather and the Warriors were one tiebreak away from upsetting the Saints.

FLOW:
Singles were played first due to court availability and the Saints took the first two matches at No. 4 and No. 2. The Warriors got their first point at No. 6 singles where
Ashley Benvenuti defeated Brit Meyer, 6-3, 6-2.

Aquinas got two more points at No. 1 and 3 singles, with
Anabell Cordero nearly pulling out the win in the latter, falling 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Barbara de Belli Oliveira cut the deficit in half with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at the fifth position.

The Saints sealed the win at No. 1 doubles, winning 8-2, but the Warriors continued to fight and made it a one point match with a 9-7 and 8-6 win at No. 2 and 3 doubles.
Raquel Manzoni teamed with Oliveira to get the win in the second position while the team of Stephanie Perez and Benvenuti got the win at No. 3 doubles.
IN THE NUMBERS:Oliveira improved to 4-2 at No. 5 singles and Benvenuti moved to 3-2 at the sixth position…Oliveira and Manzoni ate now 5-2 in doubles play while Benvenuti and Perez are 4-1 as a pair

NEXT: The Warriors return to Swinney Park on Tuesday, Apr. 21 for their home finale against Grace College beginning at 2 p.m.
