BRIEF: The Indiana Tech baseball team made the short trip North up Anthony Blvd. to face IPFW, falling to their NCAA I counterpart, 8-1 at Mastodon Field. The Warriors hung tough, allowing just two runs in the first five innings, but a four run sixth gave the home team a 6-0 lead that Tech couldn't overcome, despite the four Mastodon miscues.
 
FLOW:
After the Warriors stranded a pair of runners in the first, the home team opened the scoring with an RBI double in the bottom of the frame. Tech loaded the bases in the second but again failed to push a run home. The Orange and Black stranded their sixth runner in the third and the home team quickly added to their lead, as another leadoff walk came around to score. 

The Warriors stranded at least one runner in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and again IPFW was able to get the big hit, plating four runs on two hits to make it 6-0. In the seventh, the first two Warriors reached base as Ryne Terry walked and Romer Portes followed with a double before Brian Hakes plated the lone Tech run with a sacrifice fly.

Unfortunately, the Warriors couldn't cut into the Mastodon lead any further. Three hits and an error allowed two more runs for the home team in the bottom of the seventh for the 8-1 margin. Tech stranded three more baserunners for a total of 14 for the game.
 
THE NUMBERS:
Tech tallied eight hits with Portes and Tyler Denniston leading the way with two each. The Warriors also drew five walks in the contest with Terry accounting for two free passes.
 
Clay Wallace got the start, falling to 1-3 on the season, allowing four runs on six hits with three strikeouts and six walks.
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 8 when they welcome No. 24 UNOH to Warrior Baseball Stadium for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
