ELGIN, Ill. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team fell in their season opener at Judson University (Ill.), 1-0, on a stormy Saturday
afternoon at Dawson Field.
After lightning delayed the start of the match, the two teams battled through a scoreless first half in the rain and wind. The Warriors were able to fire off eight shots in the first 45 minutes, but were stifled by Eagles goalkeeper Eloisa Borreguero.
With just under 17 minutes to go in the second half, Judson's Hannah Condit was able to get one past Tech goalkeeper
Alena Payne and break the scoreless tie.
The Orange and Black would not go quietly however, peppering the Eagles goal with pressure and shots over the last 15 minutes, but none of them would find the back of the net.
Tech finished with seven shots on goal and 11 overall as a team, with
Jessica Zurcher and
Jessica Marin recording two shots on goal. Payne finished the game with six saves.
Indiana Tech (0-1) returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 2, when they welcome Trinity Christian College (Ill.) to Warriors Athletic Field. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. and live stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
