FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team opened its home slate with a 3-0 shutout of Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field.
 
Trinity Christian pressured right off the opening kick, getting three shots on goal in the first seven minutes, but senior keeper Alena Payne was able to keep the Trolls from getting on the board.
 
The Warriors would light up the scoreboard first when sophomore Jessica Zurcher blasted one from the left side that found the upper right corner to give the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute.
 
Just over 23 minutes into the second half, the Orange and Black would strike again. Morgan Kroezen would pounce on a bouncing ball deep inside the box and would sneak it by the Troll keeper to give Tech a 2-0 lead.
 
Less than a minute later Zurcher would strike again, this time on a breakaway where would beat the keeper again for her second goal of the night and give the Warriors a 3-0 lead.
 
Trinity Christian would mount a late offensive, firing off three shots in the last two minutes, but Payne stood tall and was able to record the clean sheet, the first of her career. She finished the night with six saves.
 
The Warriors (1-1-0) begin a three-game road trip next, beginning with #8 Spring Arbor (Mich.) on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
