FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team improved to 3-0 at home this season, evening their record to 3-3-0 on the year with a 2-0 win over Huntington on Wednesday night.
The Warriors struck first when
Megan Perrey flipped one over the head Huntington keeper Toby Carmen in the eighth minute from just outside the box to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Perrey would score again just over three minutes later when her blast deflected off a Forester defender and careened into the back of the net for the 2-0 lead.
The visitors would then turn up the pressure on the Orange and Black, firing off nine of their 28 shots on the night. The second half saw the Foresters fire off 16 shots and pressuring the Tech defense all night long. None of them would find the back of the net however, as senior goalkeeper
Alena Payne stood tall and made a career-high 13 saves, improving her record to 2-3-0 on the year.
Indiana Tech (3-3-0) hosts its annual alumni game on Friday night at 6 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend, before hitting the road to Iowa and facing off with #RV Ashford. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., with links to live stats and video available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
