SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Indiana Tech volleyball team defeated Lawrence Tech in a thrilling five set match (25-16, 18-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-13) on Wednesday evening.
After splitting the first four sets, the Warriors led wire-to-wire in the deciding fifth set, but never got comfortable with a lead. Indiana Tech got out to a 7-3 lead and looked to be in control, but Lawrence Tech came within striking distance at 8-6. A three-point spurt for the Orange and Black didn't deter the hosts either, as they battled back to make it 11-10.
Katelyn St. Martin and
Cassie Sarabia would combine for three of the next four Warrior points however, as the visitors came away with a tough conference road win.
Sarabia would finish the match with 13 kills, while St. Martin and
Jazmin Alexander finished right behind the reigning WHAC Offensive Player of the Week with 12. St. Martin would also add 15 digs for her sixth double-double of the year.
Gabby Staggs finished with a game-high 10 blocks and
Taylor Kelso continued to rack up the digs with 20 in the match, while
Karli Jones and
Mara Zell dished out 23 and 22 assists, respectively.
Tech (8-6, 4-2) returns to the court this weekend as they host a pair of conference games. On Friday the Warriors welcome #RV Cornerstone to the Schaefer Center for a 7 p.m. match before hosting Davenport on Saturday at 1 p.m. Links to live stats for both matches will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
