LIVONIA, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team fell in its WHAC opener to Madonna, 2-1, in overtime on Friday afternoon.
The Crusaders were able to strike first when Ludvick Asigo took the lead pass from Colin Wilden and snuck to past Tech keeper
Logan Kelly in the 61st minute.
The Orange and Black responded just over 16 minutes later when
Andrew Higgins scored the equalizer off of
Landon Cochran's corner kick. Higgins headed the pass in to the right post and the shot went off the bottom of the cross bar.
Higgins broke Marcel Schmid's, the reigning NAIA National Defender of the Week, 548:50 minute shutout streak with his first goal of the season.
The hosts, however, would exact victory just over a minute into overtime when Asigo scored his second goal of the game when he pounced on a rebound from Kelly.
Kelly finished with five saves, while the Warriors ten shots on goal in total.
Brennan Cochran and older brother Landon would lead the team with two shots on goal apiece.
Tech returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 30, when they welcome #9 UNOH to Warrior Athletic Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and live stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
