Warriors Fall to Pilots in Rain-Delayed Match

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team fell to Bethel College (Ind.), 2-0, at Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

With three delays due to weather, the two teams struggled to find their footing in the first half as neither side gained an advantage. The Pilots were able to pepper Tech keeper Logan Kelly with 15 shots on goal and keep the Orange and Black on the defensive.

Just over a minute in to the second half, the Pilots' Helton Moura took the pass from Octavian Sayumwe and beat Kelly to take the 1-0 advantage. Just under 10 minutes later, Moura would set up Pedro Amaral for the second Bethel goal and put the Pilots in the driver's seat for the rest of the game.

"It was a long day and Bethel was the better team," said Warriors head coach David Bokhart. "From the opening whistle, through three weather delays, and at the end of the match they were better."

Tech was only able to muster one shot on goal and four shots in all. Kelly ended the match with a career-high 13 saves.

"Some days you lose, and today Bethel beat us," Bokhart said. "Give full credit to them. They spread us out and we never had an answer for them in transition."

Indiana Tech (1-2-0) returns to play on Wednesday when they welcome Taylor University (Ind.) to the Summit City. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and live stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
