Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Warriors Tame Wolverines on the Road

DEARBORN, Mich. – The (RV) Indiana Tech men's basketball team used a dominant first half to propel themselves to a 70-57 victory over Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

Miles Robinson had a game-high 22 points while grabbing six rebounds. Dominique Walls added 14 points and four rebounds while Tanner Watkins had 13 points. Lavonte Davis chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds. Jantzen Goodwin added seven points and three rebounds off the bench.

The Warriors led wire-to-wire and got out to a 9-2 lead over the Wolverines in the first three minutes of the game and forced Michigan-Dearborn to call a timeout just 109 seconds into the half.

The hosts would cut the deficit to 14-12 at the 13:59 mark, forcing head coach John Peckinpaugh to call a timeout of his own. A three minute and 14 second scoreless drought from both teams was broken at the 10:46 mark by Davis sparked a 20-8 over the last 10 minutes of the first half as the Orange and Black headed into the locker room with a 34-20 lead.

A 7-3 spurt by the Wolverines to open the second half brought them to within 10 of the Warriors at the 17:10 mark, but back-to-back trips to the charity stripe from Davis and Walls kept the lead in double digits.

Michigan-Dearborn got the deficit down to five with 11:41 to go thanks to a 10-3 run, but five quick points from Robinson put the visitors back up by 10 with 10 minutes left in the game.

Tech outscored the Wolverines 19-17 over the final 10 minutes and never let the hosts get closer than seven points. Goodwin put the nail in the coffin with a three pointer at 1:49 to put the Warriors back up by 12 and iced the game with four free throws in the final minute of the game.

Tech (14-6, 10-3 WHAC) heads to Sylvania, Ohio on Wednesday for their matchup of the year with Lourdes. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. and links to live stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
