FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The fourth ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team had five seniors get victories on Senior Night as Tech defeated Davenport, 35-3, on Friday night in the Warrior Athletic Center.
Senior
Tyler Goldman got the action started at 174 pounds with a fall at 5:00 over Austin Vannatter to give the Warriors a lead that would not relinquish.
Jacob Johnson (184 pounds) got a fall at 2:24 over Johnny Norton to increase the lead to 12-0.
Seniors
LJ Grayson and
Kegan Clark-Sanchez each scored decisions at 197 and 285 pounds, respectively, with Grayson earning a 14-3 major decision while Clark-Sanchez pushed the Orange and Black's advantage to 19-0 with a 5-2 decision win.
Following the Senior Night festivities, redshirt-senior
Travis Barroquillo made quick work of Kahle Scheenks with a fall at 2:22 in the 133-pound bout while classmate
Collin Crume pulled out a 4-2 decision at 141 pounds, giving Tech a 28-0 lead.
Following a loss at 149 pounds,
Chase Hack brought the crowd to its feet with a thrilling come-from-behind 11-7 decision victory over Kyle Nixon at 157 pounds and
John Weldon capped the night with a 10-0 major decision at 165 pounds.
Tech (11-5 duals record) will take a group of wrestlers up to the Alma College Invitational on Saturday while their next dual meet will be at the Calumet College of St. Joseph Tri-Match on Feb. 4 in Whiting, Indiana.
