FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech Division 1 men's ice hockey team opened its third season in style on Friday night at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse with a dominating 10-2 victory over Ferris State on Homecoming Weekend.
The Warriors opened up the scoring at 2:29 in the first period as
Alex Gregorich scored to put the hosts up 1-0, but Ferris State would tie the game up three minutes later and then take a 2-1 lead at 14:53 with a power play goal.
The Orange and Black would come back out in the second period with a vengeance, scoring six times in the period while scoring nine unanswered goals the rest of the game.
Dominick Manochio would tie the game at two at 1:24 in the second while Tech then scored three goals in 62 seconds (5:43, 5:54, 6:45) to take a commanding 5-2 lead and chase starting goalie Nick Nuzzolo.
Dylan Grant,
Quentin Holmes and
Joe Molfetta tallied the goals during the run.
The Warriors dominance also extended below their own blue line as they allowed 24 shots on goal in all with
Zach Larson stopping 22 of them in the win.
Grant would add another tally to lead both sides with two goals, while
Adam Jonak added three assists on the night.
Jarrett Pfeiffer,
Brett Lervold and
Jimmie Kotilainen all recorded two assists each.
