FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech volleyball team won their opening two games of its annual Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Schafer Center, defeating Goshen and IU Southeast in straight sets, 25-16, 25-14, 25-17, and 25-21, 25-9, 25-12, respectively.

Paige Doellman and Jazmin Alexander led the way against Goshen with nine kills apiece with Alexander hitting .438. Gabby Staggs hit a game-high .600 with seven kills and three blocks. Taylor Kelso had 22 digs while Cassie Sarabia had 15. Karli Jones and Autumn Stokes quarterbacked the Warriors offense with 20 and 15 assists, respectively.

Tech roared out to a 12-4 run in the first set and extended their lead to 20-10 before taking the first set. The Warriors would hit .333 in the second as they used an 8-0 run to race out to a 12-5 lead en route to taking a 2-0 lead. The Maple Leafs would hold a 12-11 lead over the hosts in the third set, but a 10-4 run would give the Orange and Black a lead they wouldn't relinquish as they completed the sweep.

Sarabia would lead the team with a game-high 11 kills against IU Southeast while Gabby Staggs added eight kills, three blocks and a .727 hitting percentage. Kelso would add another 23 digs while Doellman had eight more kills. Jones and Stokes dished out 18 and 16 assists each.

Tech would race out a 9-2 lead, but the Grenadiers would battle back to make it a 21-20 game. A kill from Sarabia, an ace from Jones and a kill from Aubree Eggers would put the Warriors at match point as they would take the first set, 25-21.

The Orange and Black would then get out to a 9-3 lead and use a 5-0, 6-0 and 5-0 run to cruise to the 25-9 set two victory and the 2-0 match lead. Kourtney Wilson's squad would then complete their second sweep of the day with the 25-12 win.
