Box Score URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Indiana Tech ACHA Division 1 men's ice hockey team defeated No. 16 Illinois, 4-3, in overtime on Saturday evening at the University of Illinois Ice Arena.
"Playing at their rink is a unique experience," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "I think Friday our guys were trying to make adjustments on the fly. We were able to regroup and take a look at some film and apply a game plan that worked.
Chet Tooker played solid as well which gave our guys confidence in our end which is key."
Jarrett Pfeiffer scored the game-winner just under three minutes into the overtime session as he fired the unassisted shot past Illini goaltender.

After Illinois scored to take the early 1-0 lead,
Joe Molfetta forced the tie with his goal off the assist from
Jimmie Kotilainen and
Nick Papandrea.
Ryan Theisen closed out the offensive attack for the Warriors in the opening period with about five minutes remaining from the
Taylor Jones and
Nick Denice assists. Illinois utilized the final minutes of period one to move ahead 3-2 off goals from Tyler Opilka and Eric Cruickshank.

An early second period goal at the hands of
Brett Lervold locked the Orange and Black back in a tie with the Illini just three minutes into the period. Jones and Denice were credited with the assist off Lervold's goal. The remainder of the second period and all of the third remained quiet offensively as the game was heading into extra time tied at three apiece. Pfeiffer played the role of the night's hero to give the Warriors the 4-3 overtime victory.

Chet Tooker made 36 saves in net while
John Slavik added seven saves of his own.
