Tech Battles to 2-2 Draw with Cougars in Fort Wayne Derby

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team got back to action quickly as they battled to a 2-2 double-overtime draw with crosstown rival Saint Francis on Sunday evening at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium in their final non-conference matchup of the season.

Igor Guanaes provided both goals for the Orange and Black, notching his first of the season in the fourth minute of the game before putting the Warriors up 2-0 just a minute later. Brennan Cochran was credited with the assists on both opportunities.

Tech would fire off four more shots on goal against the Cougars, but USF keeper Austin Williams would stand tall in net while the hosts cut the deficit in half with a goal from Tito Cuellar in the 43rd minute.

The hosts would tie the game up in the 82nd minute as Cuellar notched his second goal of the evening to send the game into extra time. The Warriors would record four shots on goal in the two overtime periods, but were unable to find the back of the goal as the two rivals settled for the draw.

Logan Kelly made three saves in his first start of the season while playing all 110 minutes. Tech launched 13 shots on goal in the contest, with Cochran leading the way with three, while Guanaes, Ruben Leonardo and Ethan Payne each had two shots on frame.

Tech (9-2-2) returns to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on Wednesday when they travel to Adrian, Michigan for a 7 p.m. kickoff with Siena Heights at O'Laughlin Stadium.
