Warriors Continue to Rise with 4-2 Win over Gray Wolves

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team edged out Lourdes University, 4-2, in a Monday afternoon make-up contest at Warrior Athletic Field.

"You could tell both teams played 48 hours ago, but they each still produced some good moments," head coach David Bokhart said. "They are a difficult team to defend due to their athleticism, strength and pace so we needed time to adjust to that type of game. I am proud of our composure after halftime and for the way we created the goals. We've played like All-Americans on our right side and are getting goals from a variety of sources. Proving that will can be dangerous – creating and finishing chances against the best teams – will be the key to the rest of our season and postseason. We always have someone come into the game that makes a difference. Saturday, Adim Akpapunam was a bit of a spark and tonight Leo Gill showed his experience."

From their head-to-head contest cancelled back in the beginning of October, Lourdes traveled back to Fort Wayne and welcomed themselves back by striking first off Carlos Viganoni sending a long shot past Tech goalkeeper Adam Viviano in the 11th minute. The Warriors would answer in more ways than one, as Oswaldo Segura Diaz got his seventh goal of the season in the 28th minute to tie things in the first half, which was then followed by Roman Schindler pushing the Orange and Black ahead off the assist from Leo Gill in the 41st minute. The Gray Wolves wouldn't settle for the one goal deficit at the half though, as Isamnia Cohen launched the tying score off the free kick with just minutes before the completion of the first.

Opening the second half, Schindler came through strong again for the Warriors, putting them ahead 3-2 in the 60th minute with his 11th goal of the season off the assist from Mitch Scott and Andrew Higgins. Tech would hold Lourdes scoreless the duration of the second half, and would go one to stamp their victory on a goal in the 77th minute from Brennan Cochran, who took the pass from his older brother, Landon Cochran, and flicked it in from six yards out.

Schindler concluded his night with three shots on goal, while Segura Diaz followed with two for the Orange and Black. Viviano concluded his night in goal with two saves for the Warriors in the full 90 minutes of play.

Tech (12-2-2, 6-2-1 WHAC) will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Madonna at Warrior Athletic Field for a 7 p.m. match-up.
