FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech volleyball team continued their hot streak with their eighth consecutive sweep on Wednesday night at home as they took down Marygrove in their "Dig Pink Game", 25-12, 25-15, 25-14.
Cassie Sarabia led the Warriors with a game-high 14 kills, 15 digs and a. 484 hitting percentage with
Jazmin Alexander following behind with nine of her own.
Karli Jones dished out a game-high 28 assists for the Orange and Black while
Taylor Kelso concluded her night with a game high 29 digs with Sarabia behind her at 15.
The Warriors opened the first set on a 12-3 run and were able to use that momentum to carry them to the 25-12 set decision. After the Mustangs pushed to keep close through the first half of the second set, Tech utilized errors from their opponents to jump ahead and eventually compile an 8-0 run for the 19-9 advantage. A pair of kills by
Gabby Staggs helped the Orange and Black to go on to take the set and the 2-0 advantage heading into their final set of the night. A second 8-0 run of the night would open set three for Tech, but Marygrove was able to string together five points to come within two of the Warriors. Despite trying to make things interesting, Tech maintained quality distance with their lead that would only grow en route to a 25-14 final set score and 3-0 match victory.
Staggs would hit .462 on the night and did not commit a single error while recording six kills.
Tech (23-8, 9-4 WHAC) will travel to #18 Madonna on Saturday for their last regular season road match-up on the season. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
