Cougars Too Much for Warriors in Loss

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The 20th-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team fell to top-ranked Saint Francis, 105-71, on Saturday afternoon in the title game of the Northern Lakes Insurance Classic at the Hutzell Athletic Center.
 
Scott Schwieterman led the Warriors with a game-high 20 points on 10-16 shooting while Lavonte Davis added 18 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks en route to All-Tournament Team honors. Stuart Jackson rounded out Tech's double-digit scorers with 14 and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for his first career double-double.
 
The Cougars would jump out to a 20-10 lead in the first eight and a half minutes of the game, but the Warriors would battle back to tie it up at 27-all with 5:57 to go in the first half. Tech would then string together a 13-9 run to take a 39-36 lead with 2:49 left in the opening half.
 
Saint Francis would answer right back with a 14-5 run to end the half and head into the locker room up 50-44.
 
The hosts would then come out firing in the second with a 10-2 spurt in the opening three and a half minutes of the half and continued to control the game throughout the rest of the game, extending their lead to as many as 35 and reigning national runner-ups would take home the tournament title with the 105-71 win.
 
Tech (1-1) returns to action on Tuesday when they head north to Wisconsin for an exhibition contest against NCAA Division I for Green Bay. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. from the Resch Center.
