Warriors Battle Tough, but Fall to Phoenix in Exhibition Loss

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The 20th-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team fell to NCAA Division I foe Green Bay, 98-65, on Tuesday evening at the Resch Center in an exhibition contest.
 
Tanner Watkins and Jantzen Goodwin led the Warriors with 15 points apiece, with both senior guards hitting three three-pointers each and the former dishing out a team-high three assists. Scott Schwieterman added 12 points while Lavonte Davis had 11 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Miles Robinson contributed nine points and six rebounds.
 
The Warriors started off the game strong against the 2016 Horizon League Tournament Champions as they jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game. The Phoenix would come back to take an 8-5 lead at the 16:01 mark, but Tech would battle back to make tie it up at 14 four minutes later.
 
The Orange and Black would take back the lead go up by as much as six, but Green Bay would regroup and end the half on a 9-3 run over the last two minutes to head into halftime up 42-36.
 
The hosts would then show why they made the NCAA Tournament a year ago as they went on a 19-5 run in the first seven minutes of the second half to make it 61-41 as the Warriors struggled to shoot the ball from the field.
 
The Phoenix would control the rest of the game as they cruised to the 98-65victory in the exhibition.
 
Tech (1-1) returns to action on Saturday when they host Holy Cross in a 7 p.m. tipoff at the Schaefer Center in their home opener.
