Tech Upsets #14 Panthers, Clinches WHAC Tournament Berth in Home Finale

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team defeated 14th-ranked, undefeated and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) leader Davenport, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in their home and regular season finale at Warrior Athletic Field.

With the win, Tech clinched the number eight seed in the WHAC Tournament next week while handing the Panthers their first loss of the season.

The Panthers scored the first goal of the game in the 26th minute as Shameeka Fishley struck one from 25 yards out to put the visitors up 1-0 and they continued to control the tempo in the opening half with a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Becca Hoklas would give the Warriors life right away in the second half though as the senior took the through ball from classmate Jessica Zurcher and sidestepped goalie Amy Cochran in the 46th minute to tie it up at one-all. Cochran was inserted into the lineup after an injury to starting keeper Regan Troff.

Tech would keep the pressure turned up on the Panthers as Jessica Marin sent in a line drive free kick from 20 yards out to put the Orange and Black up 2-1 in the 54th minute.

Senior keeper Tailer Roscoe made five saves in the contest, with four coming in the second half and two in the last 15 minutes of the contest.

Tech will return to action on Wednesday, November 2 for the first round of the WHAC Tournament, where they will take regular season champion Davenport at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex in a to-be-determined game-time.
