Warriors Slow Down Racers in Divisional Showdown

LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech volleyball team defeated University of Northwestern Ohio in four sets, 23-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-20, picking up a key divisional win in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play at Racer Gymnasium.
 
Cassie Sarabia led the Warriors with a game-high 24 kills and added 11 digs and two service aces. Paige Doellman added 12 kills of her own while Gabby Staggs chipped in nine kills and a team-high four blocks. Karli Jones dished out 24 assists with Autumn Stokes was right behind with 18, while Taylor Kelso had 21 digs.
 
After falling to the Racers in a tight 25-23 first set, the Warriors would come out with a vengeance in the second and third sets, hitting .233 and .303, respectively, while limiting UNOH to hitting percentages of .032 and .026, respectively.
 
The Orange and Black raced out to a 7-2 lead in the second, and while the hosts would tie the set up at 12-all, the visitors would use a 13-7 run to tie the match up at one. In the third set, Tech would get out in front, 12-6, to cruise to the 25-13 set win.
 
The two teams would duke it out in the fourth set, with both sides hitting over .300 and 11 ties and four lead changes in the decisive set. With the score tied at 17-all, the Warriors would rattle off three consecutive points and took the match with an 8-3 run.
 
Tech (16-7, 6-3 WHAC) returns to action next Wednesday, October 12, when they face off with Lawrence Tech in a rematch from their September 7 battle. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from Don Ridler Field House.
