Warriors Shut Out Panthers in Dual Opener

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team open their dual schedule with a dominating 45-0 win over regional rival Davenport on Thursday evening at the DU Student Center.
 
Sawyer Miller started the match off with a dominating 19-2 tech fall victory at 125-pounds while Erique Early earned a major decision, 19-7, in the 133-lbs. match while Thomas Garty and Jacob Gross each picked up six points for Tech with falls at 149 and 157-lbs., respectively.
 
The Warriors continued their dominance over the Panthers with an 8-1 decision from John Weldon at 165-lbs. and an 11-3 major decision from Antonio Rodriguez at 174-lbs. Dillon Francisco picked up a fall at 3:00 in the 184-lbs. bout while Trevor Yank and Oscar Martinez finished out the shutout for the Orange and Black with a 23-6 tech fall and a 5-1 decision in the 197 and 285 weight classes.
 
Tech will be back in action this Saturday as they make the short trip north up I-69 to Angola, Indiana for the Trine Invitational. Action is set to get underway at 9 a.m. from the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center.
