Warriors Roll Over Wolverines to Move to 2-1 in WHAC Play

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team used a stifling defense effort to propel themselves to a 71-30 win over Michigan-Dearborn on Tuesday evening at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

Keanna Gary led all scorers with 16 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for her fourth consecutive double-double and fifth of the season. Kendall Knapke added 15 points on 6-8 shooting while Haley Cook chipped in 14 points and dished out a season-high 10 assists for the double-double. Gary and Cook would each come away with three steals apiece.

Shooting abandoned for teams for the opening minutes of the contest before the Warriors scored the first basket of the game at the 7:48 mark which sparked an 8-1 run for the visitors. After the Wolverines cut the deficit to five with 2:26 to go in the quarter, Tech would end the first period on an 11-0 run and head into the intermission ahead 21-5.

The Orange and Black would continue their offensive outburst in the second quarter as they outscored the hosts 18-4 and forced eight turnovers in the 10 minutes to head into the locker room up 39-9.

UM-Dearborn would break into double digits in the third quarter en route to 13 points in the period, but the Warriors offense would churn out 21 more points while the defense limited the Wolverines to just eight points in the final 10 minutes while cruising to the 71-30 win.

Tech (7-1, 2-1 WHAC) returns to action next Wednesday, November 30, as they host Marygrove in the conference home opener. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
