Warriors Stampede over Mustangs in Rout

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 21-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team used a balanced scoring effort, efficient shooting and a stingy defense to defeat Marygrove, 130-52, in their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) home opener at the Schaefer Center.

Haley Cook led all players with 19 points and going 7-10 from the field and 5-8 from behind the three-point line as the Warriors bested their season-best in scoring by 15 points. Kendall Knapke and Taylor Seiss both contributed 17 points, with the former grabbing seven rebounds, while Keanna Gary chipped in 16 points and five rebounds. Linsey Masnari and Mikaela Lyons rounded out Tech's double-digit scorers with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Bella Lozano-Dobbs dished out a career-best 11 assists while Rachel Bell collected a career-high nine rebounds off the bench.

The Mustangs would take an early 3-2 lead off an Elisha Major three-pointer 45 seconds into the contest, but the Warriors would respond with a 27-5 run, including a 15-0 spurt, to take a 32-12 lead into the first intermission. Knapke and Seiss would each hit three three-pointers during the quarter.

Tech continued its offensive dominance in the second as they outscored the visitors 37-17 while going 14-18 from the field and hitting five more triples in the period, with three coming from Cook and the other two from Seiss.

Leading 69-32 to begin the second half, the Orange and Black would turn up the defensive pressure even more as they limited Marygrove to just five points in the third quarter while the hosts added 34 points to their total, using a 17-0 run to start the second half while breaking the century mark with just under a minute to go in the third.

The Warriors were able to get their reserves some key minutes in the final 10 minutes of the game as they continued to play in a good rhythm with their bench and finish off the Mustangs for the 130-52 victory.

Tech would set season-highs in points, field goals made (52), three-point field goals made (16), rebounds (52) and assists (30) while shooting 69.3% from the field and 64% from behind the arc.
