FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech basketball team concluded a busy weekend of games on Sunday as they fell to crosstown NCAA Division I rival Fort Wayne (IPFW), 78-46, in an exhibition contest at the Gates Sports Center.
Kendall Knapke had a team-high 10 points, eight rebounds and also had a pair of blocks while
Taylor Seiss added nine points.
Haley Cook notched seven points and dished a game-high five assists while
Linsey Masnari added three blocks.
Playing their third game in four days, the Warriors would score the first basket off the game a minute a half into the contest thanks to Knapke, but the Mastodons would go on a 16-6 run over the next five minutes and ended the quarter up 21-14.
The hosts would turn up the defensive pressure in the second quarter as they forced seven Tech turnovers and outscored the visitors 10-2 in the paint and went into the locker room up 35-19 over the Warriors.
The Orange and Black would continue to struggle shooting the ball in the second half as they were limited to just 24.5% from the field and 25% from behind the three-point line for the game while the Mastodons shot just 48% and pounded the ball in the paint, outscoring the Warriors 50-12 in the final 20 minutes to come away with the 78-46 victory.
Tech (4-0) will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel outside of Fort Wayne for the first time on the season as they take on Grace in a 7 p.m. tipoff in Winona Lake, Indiana.
