HONOLULU – The No. 17-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team fell to No. 2-ranked Concordia (Neb.), 68-57, on Monday afternoon in the Hoop N' Surf Classic at Saint Francis School.
Keanna Gary recorded her fifth consecutive double-double and ninth of the season with a game-high 19 points and team-high 11 rebounds while
Haley Cook added 13 points, three assists and three steals.
Taylor Seiss chipped in 11 points,
Kendall Knapke scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds and
Bella Lozano-Dobbs dished out a game-high six assists.
Tech opened the game on a 6-1 run off of back-to-back three-pointers from Cook and Seiss four minutes into the game, but the Bulldogs would counter with an 11-2 spurt to take a 12-8 lead with 1:33 to go in the first quarter.
Concordia would steadily build their lead throughout the second quarter, taking a 23-15 lead with 4:45 to go until the half. Back-to-back triples from Cook and Seiss though, would cut the deficit to two just over a minute later. The Bulldogs would strike back quickly though with a 10-0 run and took a 31-23 lead into the locker room.
The Orange and Black would chip away at the lead in the third quarter, using a 6-0 spurt to bring them within three points at 44-41 with 3:50 to go in the period, but the hosts on the scoreboard would end the quarter on a 9-5 run to take a 53-46 heading into the fourth.
The Bulldogs would continue to hold the advantage through the final period though, growing the lead to as many as 14 and outscoring the Warriors 15-11 in the final 10 minutes of the game to win 68-57.
Tech (11-3) returns to action on Tuesday as they face their second top-10 ten in as many days when they battle No. 8-ranked Dakota Wesleyan in their final game of the Hoop N' Surf Classic. Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m. EST from Saint Francis School.
