Warriors See Win Streak Snapped by Blue Devils

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team saw its five game winning streak snapped by #17 Lawrence Tech, 72-59, on Saturday afternoon at Don Ridler Field House.

Haley Cook led the Warriors with a game-high 22 points, grabbed four rebounds and picked up a pair of steals. Taylor Seiss added 16 points while Taylor Carver chipped in nine points and four rebounds. Kendall Knapke, Sarah White and Rayana Villalpando each pulled down nine rebounds apiece

Tech found itself in a hole early as the Blue Devils raced out to a 21-7 lead after the first 10 minutes of action thanks to seven turnovers by the Orange and Black. The Warriors would outscore the 17th-ranked team in the country over the next three quarters, 52-51, but it would not be enough to overcome the early deficit.

The visitors would battle back to cut the Blue Devils lead to 37-27 at halftime thanks to a 13-6 run to the end the half with Cook converting a four-point play with 49 seconds to go and Carver hitting a jumper at the buzzer.

Tech would get as close as four with 3:59 left in the third quarter following a 13-7 run to open the second half, with all the Warriors points coming from Cook and Carver as Lawrence Tech was forced to call a timeout. The Blue Devils would counter with an 8-0 run to end the period as they went up 52-40 with 10 minutes left.

LTU would then score seven of the next eight points to extend their lead to 18, the largest of the game and cruised the rest of the way for the victory.

Tech (18-10, 14-6 WHAC) starts the final week of the regular season with another tough road test, this time at Cornerstone on Wednesday evening. Tipoff is set for 5:30 from Grand Rapids, Michigan and links to live video and stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
