PULASKI, Tenn. – The Indiana Tech softball team opened up the 2016 season on Saturday by splitting a pair of games at the Martin Methodist College MMC Meltdown. Tech defeated Grace 13-12 in their first game and fell to (RV) Madonna 13-1 in five innings.
The Warriors struck first against the Crusaders with a
Hannah Foltz single that plated
Cassandra Mendoza to go ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, but Madonna would respond quickly however, scoring four times in the bottom of the inning and adding five more in the second to chase starter
Amber Terlaje.
The Orange and Black would only muster two more hits the rest of the game as the Crusaders added three more runs in the third and added another in the fifth.
Selena Schulteis went 2-for-2 in her collegiate debut and
Amanda Kendziora drew a walk.
Stats were not immediately available for the Grace game, but will be posted as soon as possible.
Tech (1-1) concludes its opening weekend with a pair of games against the host Redhawks on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 10 a.m. from MMC's East Campus Athletic Facility. Live stats will be available via IndianaTechWarriors.com.
