BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The No. 8/7 (NAIA/National Women's Lacrosse League) Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team picked up their second win of the season on Friday afternoon with a 20-3 victory over Missouri Baptist at the Frostbite Invitational at Lindenwood-Belleville University.
One day after scoring four goals in the season opener,
Alexa Winter responded with five more goals today against the Spartans.
Sam Vikstrom would tally another four goal performance as well, while
Heidi Tremaine recorded a hat trick.
Meaghan Eldridge picked up second win in as many days, recorded two saves while allowing only two goals in 30 minutes of action.
Much like their win on Thursday, the Warriors blitzed the Spartans with five goals in the first 10 minutes, including Winter's first just 91 seconds into the contest. Missouri Baptist would get on the board at the 20:52 mark of the first period to make a 5-1 game, but the Orange and Black answered with a goal 36 seconds later as Vikstrom blasted her second goal into the net and went into the locker room up 13-1 at halftime as they cruised to another win.
Tech's defense was just as stout today, allowing only six shots on goal and seven overall while causing 19 Spartans turnovers and picking up 30 ground balls.
Tech (2-0) concludes its opening weekend of play at the Frostbite Invitational with a 10 a.m. matchup against Saint Mary (Kan.).
